ALOR POTHE- A COMMUNITY SCHOOL PROGRAM FOR SCHOOL OUT CHILDREN:
Currently Sanjog running 30 community schools named “ALOR POTHE” for the children at risk out of schools in urban slums at Dhaka, Chittagong and Coxsbazar. ALOR POTHE is a community based school for vulnerable children providing non-formal, life-skills-based education with values and essential skills of literacy, communication, problem solving and productive work. The program provides livelihood skills training, and enhances access to support systems to ensure optimally use of life-skills-based education to improve their life.
The community school steps to create a community-based network for social protection of children through formation of School management Committee, Mother groups and youth forum and building capacity to protect the children vulnerable to sexual exploitation. The program intends to develop child mentors from the community and foster leadership skills to mentoring children to address social and economic systems for protecting children from hazardous labor, child marriage and commercial sexual exploitation.
This is a 2-3 hours school scheduled upon children flexibility and in these schools children are caring for childhood development, positive behavior, personal hygiene, primary health care and motivation on negative effects of substance abuse. Once in week children attending creative education e.i. arts, music, storytelling, film show or site visit etc.
